Recreation Programs
At the end of the 2008 summer, UDI retired its popular Pearl Street Summer Basketball League to focus on providing solutions to assist communities of color in confronting critical issues facing the future of our children and our community including affordable housing, healthcare and education. UDI enjoyed providing 35 years of its successsful summer basketball league, but with limited resources felt its focus should shift more on addressing major issues confronting poor and low income individuals and families within our community. UDI will continue to offer recreation programs, but on a more focused scale.

Webster Bank Children's Instructional Clinic

In its 17th year of partnering with UDI, Webster Bank will once again be offering its popular Children’s Tennis Clinic designed to provide summer instruction to youth ages 6-16, as well as provide early instruction for future tennis players.
Clinic sessions are offered at Fulton Park on Saturdays from June - August.
J. Francis Smith Memorial Tennis Tournament
Also sponsored by Webster Bank, this year's tournament runs from July and August 2011. Those who registered before the July deadline, play for free courtesy of Webster Bank which will be underwriting the costs. In addition to multiple women's and men's division, the tournament also offers a high school and seniors division.
This year, the program also included the Patricia H. Mayfield Tennis Salute.
